  11.   Here are the short installation instuctions:

  13.   Put the logo.sys  file in your main hard drive directory 
  14.   (usually C:\)and then put the logos.sys and the logow.sys in
  15.   your Windows directory, and when you shut down the new screens 
  16.   should come up

  19.  Win 95 animated start-up logo installation instructions
  20. ================================================================

  22. !   *.sys file type is usually hidden in most people's computers 
  23.     under Win95.  Hence, you might have trouble in finding *.sys 
  24.     files for copying files.  To see these hidden files, you can 
  25.     use either suggestion below. 
  26.  
  27.     suggestion a.   go to Explorer
  28.                        choose View menu, then select Options...
  29.                           in the dialog, enable "Show all files"
  30.  
  31.     suggestion b.   use a DOS window, in which most *.sys files 
  32.                     can be viewed normally
  33.

  35. 0.  Extract the new .SYS file to a temporary directory.
  36.

  38. 1.  Move (backup) original "start-up" logo, "LOGO.SYS" from the
  39.     root directory of your boot drive, usually C:\ to another
  40.     temporary directory.

  42.      (If you are using a compression utility or cannot locate
  43.       the logo.sys file, please see the notes below.)

  46. 2.  Use DOS window or Explorer to copy new logo file to the 
  47.     root directory, renaming the new copy to "LOGO.SYS"

  64. * If you are using a compression utility on your boot drive, 
  65.   you must put logo.sys in the host for that drive.
  66.   (For example, if drive C: is compressed and its host is the G: 
  67.    drive, then logo.sys should be placed in the root directory 
  68.    of the G: drive.)

  70. * The default logo.sys is embedded in io.sys file.
  71.   If you cannot find logo.sys in your drives, including the host 
  72.   drive (see above), chances are Win95 is using the logo that is 
  73.   embedded in io.sys as your start up logo.  In this case, you 
  74.   don't have logo.sys to backup.    Simply place the new logo.sys 
  75.   in the root directory of your boot (host) drive. 
  76.   Logo.sys in the root directory will take precedence of the one 
  77.   embedded in io.sys file.  To get back to the original win95 
  78.   logo, simply rename the logo.sys to other name.

  80. * To restore the original win95 logo, you must save (backup) the 
  81.   file in step 1.  Then just copy the original logo to the 
  82.   designated directory.
